Ann Coulter Gets A Lot of Mileage Out of What is Really a Yawn

Does anyone take her seriously?

Other than Fox and 98% of their viewership, of course.

A friend was visiting from England. We were channel surfing and saw that Ann Coulter was to speak in Ottawa.

He groaned.

I laughed.

He can’t stand her. He isn’t a fan of her politics but what he really can’t stand is the fact that she makes things up.

I laughed again.

We are reasonable people and reasonable people will listen to what you have to say and question accordingly. That is what dialogue and conversation should be.

I may agree with very little of what Coulter says but she has the right to say it- as long as she isn’t just pulling phantom bits of information out of her butt to illustrate a point.

She has the right to speak- as do the hundreds of protesters in Ottawa the other night. Apparently there were no arrests so how “out of hand” was it really?

Whatever the situation, Coulter has been all over the media in Canada and the States. I was hoping it would die down again but apparently there is talk about hate crime charges? I don’t have the details and I don’t really care because the whole thing is a publicity stunt.

Coulter and her people took the opportunity to cancel something that likely could have gone on- if the reports from those involved are to be believed. But now, they are going to spin this thing and try to get as much mileage out of it as possible.

My understanding is that more people wanted to hear her speak than the room would allow. Was Coulter afraid that she would be speaking to an unsympathetic audience?

You would think Coulter would be used to it by now. I would go to hear her talk but I certainly wouldn’t pay for the “privilege.”

And then she was greeted like a long lost daughter in Calgary last night….

Apparently she wants to revive Manifest Destiny.  I wonder if people cheered when Coulter pandered to the converted with her proclamation to spearhead a campaign to make Calgary and everything west of Calgary the 51st state? Yes, please save us from ourselves. Canada desperately needs American economic enlightenment virtues and the guidance of American institutions to lead us out of the darkness and into the light.

Oh Ann, the classics never get old do they?

Time to get a new playbook?

But enough already, I’m bored.
