Lovely Montreal

People think my brother and I are crazy to take the overnight bus to Montreal.

If we are crazy, we weren’t the only ones.

There were so many people in line last night they pulled everyone going to Ottawa and Montreal into the first bus and brought in another for everyone else.

So much for stretching out.

It was uneventful- though I lost count how many times I was dinged in the head by someone passing by to use the scary bathroom at the back of the bus. I have to thank the guy who asked some dude to turn down the volume on his MP3. I would have lost my mind if he hadn’t.

Even though we missed a turn to get to the convention centre, and I took a left when I should have takenĀ a right to meet some people for coffee, it turned out to be a fantastic day. The majority of the panels I went to today were really good. We ended the night with a discussion between Paul Krugman and Charles Stross. It was amazing. My mind is buzzing with ideas and I am going to find Stross’ books when I get back to Toronto. This panel alone was worth the price of admission.

I’ll write more about the Convention when I have a chance- I still have to map out my day tomorrow. There are too many panels to choose from. The World Science Fiction Convention is like the Star Trek Convention/Polaris on steroids.

Why did I wait so long to attend???
