Chivalry My Butt

I am just in from a full day at Toronto Trek (details to follow tomorrow) and I was waiting to be buzzed into my boyfriend’s building.

The light had turned green and I was struggling with the door because I had two six-packs of pop.

A guy was on the other side of the door watching me struggle.

I think he wanted me to hold the door for him. Only both of his hands were free.

I am not the kind of person who waits for people to open the door or expect a door to be held for me but but there is something to be said for courtesy.

If my hands are free and someone else is loaded down, I’ll offer to open the door for them. If I am going through a door and someone is close enough that the door would just close on them as they got to it, I will hold it.

Is that really too much to ask?
