Harper Palms Host?
I am not a Roman Catholic but a friend of mine who is, forwarded me a video of an apparent no-no perpetrated by Harper at Roméo LeBlanc’s funeral mass last Friday.
Sticking the host in one’s pocket is a sacrilege and this has been a pretty big deal in my friend’s home town.
One would think that if Harper wanted a souvenir of the occasion, he could have chosen more wisely.
Would a program not have sufficed?
The host, or communion wafer, is a physical representation of God. Whether one believes this to be true or not is irrelevant- one must respect the beliefs of others. This is especially the case if you are in their house. To not do so is ignorant at best, at worst- we’ll see if they get wind of this at the G8 Summit in Italy. Hmmm, which just happens to be a predominantly Catholic country.
Let’s hope a meeting with the Pope is not on the docket.
