What Is Up With Alberta Politicians?

Scowling woman can be a turn-off?

Equal is something you find in little packets at Starbucks?

This is supposed to be light and funny?

Yeah, f@cking hysterical.

I heard the comments on the news this morning and thought it was a joke. This is the kind of advice you would have junior high school kids leave with when they graduate?

Granted, nuance is not always the easiest thing to convey in written communication. But really? Were you trying to be “cool”? Do you have a not-so-secret desire to try your hand at stand-up at YukYuk’s? Colossal fail.

Apparently this is not the only gaffe he has made. As an elected politician, a representative of the people in his constituency, he is in a position of influence and should be held to a higher standard of behaviour. If he represented me, I would be incredibly embarrassed and would seriously be considering other representation in the next election. But that is just me.

Of course, he has his supporters and will not be reprimanded. As evolved as we may think we are, often it is a case of one step forward and two steps back. If we don’t talk about it then everything is okay. If we close our eyes, we can pretend that sexism ended when women burned their bras.

Now is a great opportunity to talk about it. Dialogue can be a good thing.

I just hope his own grown daughters kicked his @ss.
