Star Trek Geek Moment
CSI was on the tube and my bf and I were making pizza for dinner.
Two members of the crime lab are at a science fiction convention for a fictional show modeled on the original Star Trek called Astro Quest. A dead body is discovered and one of the crime geeks calls the replacement for the William Peterson character and ends the call with, “He’s dead Jim.”
I laughed and my bf looked at me funny. I tried to explain that this was an allusion to Star Trek- where Dr. McCoy has uttered the same statement to Captain James T. Kirk on many occasions. He gave me the “total geek” face.
Of course I would end up with someone who is not a fan of science fiction. (Sigh.)
One of the guests on this show was the final Cylon on the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica (she is probably the killer). That is pretty cool but I think one of the creators/writers/executive producers of BSG was an extra in a crowd scene. I may just have to check some of the geek blogs to confirm the sighting…
Okay, maybe I should just go and eat my dinner now while I watch the rest of the show…
