Sick and Tired, Literally

I have been walking around in a bit of a fog for the past few weeks.

There is a lot of crap going around the office and it I’ve been able to keep it in check with ibuprofen, honey and lemon tea and a lot of sleep on the weekends. I’ve had to suck it up because there is so much to do and it is all due at the same time. Needless to say, my social life has been the pits.

My boyfriend was deathly sick for a few weeks and now that he is just in the final stages of congestion, I get it.

It finally hit me late Tuesday afternoon. Not “pretty” sick- icky sick. The kind where you don’t want to be around anyone and everyone wishes you had stayed home.

When news reports come out (and they come out every year around cold and flu season) stating it is better to stay at home than risk spreading the viruses to co-workers, I laugh. And I can’t believe that I am the only one who thinks this is preposterous!

The list of symptoms they cite as good reasons to stay home- sneezing, blowing your nose, fever (even the low grade ones)- are ones I experience all the time! Well, the first two more so than the last.

If I stayed home that much, I would have been sacked ages ago…but then, other people who are absent due to medical issues (apparently) get raises and promotions….(Mental note: revisit logic.)

My problem is that I feel a little better and I do too much. This might be one of those times. The fog is rolling in again and drugs are beckoning. Do I delay the inevitable or let the fog roll over me and be done with it…

To succumb or not to succumb…That is the question.
