iPhone Banned, Melinda Despondent

A couple days ago I heard that Melinda (Gates) coveted an iPhone but she was not “allowed” to have one.

Apparently all things Apple are banned from the Gates household- for obvious reasons. If you don’t understand why, you need to go to a search engine and do a little research. Unless you have a healthy ego, I would advise you not to tell anyone what you had to do because everyone (everyone!) will laugh their asses off.

This is something I would not have thought about but it totally makes sense. What kind of message would it send to employees of Microsoft, shareholders, buyers of technology, people at large if Gates and his family used the latest and greatest gadgets and necessities of life produced by Apple?

What kind of message does even knowing that Apple anything (unless it grows on a tree) is banned from the uber-techy Gates compound? That Melinda would love an iPhone makes me chuckle. His kids aren’t even allowed to have an iPod- they have to make do with a run-of-the-mill MP3 player.

My conversion to the Apple side started two years ago when I received an iPod for Christmas…I don’t know what I would do without it now. It goes with me everywhere! How did I ever get through everyday life without music to make me forget how stupid

pedestrians and drivers can be? How sad am those times when I inadvertently let the battery run to nothing and had to walk to my destination in silence?

I made the final transition when I bought my first Mac, a MacBook, just over a year ago. It was a transformative experience. It should always have been this easy. I haven’t explored the depth of possibilities of my Mac but I will.

I don’t have a cell phone- I don’t need it for business (yet), I don’t have a car (for emergencies), I don’t have kids yet (for emergencies) and I really don’t want everyone to get hold of me wherever I am and whenever they want, but when I do, it will probably be an iPhone.

My sympathies go out to Melinda and the kids but I am sure they aren’t hurting for anything.
