Conservatives Blink First
At least for now…
The Opposition Parties brought in some big guns, Jean Chrétian and Ed Broadbent, for what we can only surmise were serious discussions/negotiations. A Coalition government between the Liberals and the NDP with the support of the Bloc- very interesting. There is a precedent for this in Canadian history. It is rare but not unheard of.
Harper’s hand was forced and the non-confidence vote will be delayed until December 8th. His spin on this is hysterical!

He is positioning this move as an affront to Canada and democracy. Canadians by default elected him Prime Minister, not King! I think he is a little confused by the meaning of the word “mandate.”
The last time I checked, it was a minority government. The “mandate” given to all the parties was to work together. Forgive me if I am mistaken but making EVERY SINGLE VOTE a non-confidence motion is not exactly the spirit of cooperation.
Somebody did not learn how to “make nice” in kindergarten.
As displeased I am with the outcome of the last two elections, the government that we got is the government we have to work with.
Are you listening Harper?
